FEB 05 Ernie Johnson,
Braves Announcer and Pitcher
 
Ernie was the announcer for the Braves for 35 years and a Major League pitcher for 9 years having played for the Boston Braves, Milwaukee Braves and the Baltimore Orioles. He was a member of the 1957 World Champion Milwaukee Braves which included Hall of Fame players Warren Spahn, Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, and Red Schoendienst. He was with the Braves organization for 50 years and retired twice, in 1989 and 1999. He was voted into the Braves Hall of Fame in 2001, has won 3 Emmy's for broadcasting and was Broadcaster of the Year for the State of Georgia for 3 years. Ernie and his wife Lois (married in 1947) have lived in the Polo neighborhood for almost 2 years and have been members of the Polo Golf Club since it opened. MAY 07 Fred Headley
Activities Director, First Redeemer Church.
 
Fred has been in residential real estate since 1996 having worked with Coldwell Banker until January 2005 when he joined Jenny Pruitt & Associates. Prior to that Fred was Oversight Manager with Resolution Trust for 5 years. Before that Fred was in the banking industry for 30 years working at several banks around the country. He was Senior VP of Citizens Bank & Trust in Jonesboro, Arkansas as the number 2 man. Fred is active in Alta tennis and in his church, Cumming 1st United Methodist, where he led an adult Sunday school of 105 people.

AUG 06 Jim Dykes,
Peachtree Planning.
 

Jim worked many years in engineering with AT&T Bell Laboratories (later became Lucent Technologies) and held Executive Product Management positions with two other local companies. In late 2002 he changed careers and became a personal financial planner and is now with Peachtree Planning. Jim's education includes degrees in B.E.E. and M.S.I.E. from Georgia Tech, M.S.E.E. from Stanford, and an MBA from Georgia State. He is also Secretary of the Polo Home Owners Association. Jim will present what he has learned in his career and also talk on "Financial Planning Mistakes People Often Make and Retirement Planning Tips."


NOV 05 John Arant,
The Dow Chemical Company, Retired after 32 Years
 
John Arant and his wife Marilyn have lived at 6125 Polo Drive for 14 yrs. He is retired after 32 yrs at The Dow Chemical Co. Marilyn is a mortgage broker with Sunshine Mortgage. Most of John's work experience was representing Dow's building materials business to trade organizations and government agencies in Washington, D.C., and in sales and marketing of Dow constructions products. Being retired, John felt it was now his duty to offer himself for service and serves on the board of the Polo Home Owner's Association as Vice- President. John and Marilyn own and manage several rental houses in Cumming, do volunteer work for First Redeemer Church, play ALTA tennis, are members of the Polo Golf and Country Club, do their own yard work, read, travel and belong to several Civic organizations.
