NOV 06 Terry White,
IT Manager with Home Depot.

Terry was born, raised and spent his first 35 years in Iowa. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.S. in Journalism, but decided as a senior that a career in journalism really wasn't that attractive (aka, not much money). Terry's first job out of college was selling life insurance (door to door), definitely a character-building experience he was only able to endure for two months. He then accepted an offer to join a Coors beer distributor as a public relations manager. The highlight of his time at Coors was that it allowed him to meet Kathy who eventually became his wife. Terry returned to school and earned a degree in computer programming. In 1985, he began his IT career as a programmer/analyst for Fisher Controls in Marshalltown, Iowa. In 1989, he joined Bandag, Inc., in Muscatine, Iowa as a systems analyst. In 1993, he was given the opportunity to get out of IT (and Iowa) and became the Human Resources manager for Bandag's largest manufacturing plant in Griffin, Ga. Three years later he was promoted to Operations Manager at the facility. In 1998, Terry accepted a promotion to return to IT (and to Iowa) and went back to Bandag's headquarters to manage the applications development group he'd left five years earlier. On October 30, 2001, and after 13 years with Bandag, Terry lost his job. After a 13-month job search, he and his family ended up back in Georgia, when he accepted his current position with Home Depot in December 2002. Though devastating at the time, Terry's job loss was the pivotal event in changing his life. Today Terry is a volunteer with Job Seekers which helps others through difficult job transitions. Terry has been married to Kathy for 26 years and they have three children, 24, 21 and 17 and a beautiful daughter in law.
